Sarcoidosis can take a lot from patients, care partners, and relationships. This includes an impact on intimate relationships and an individual’s sexual wellness. Often seen as an uncomfortable or taboo topic, patients do not always bring up concerns related to their health and intimacy. This webinar aims to provide an overview of the impact sarcoidosis may play in the disruption or challenges you may be experiencing in your sex-life. This webinar will cover topics such as:

  • Common views or misunderstandings about sex with a chronic disease
  • How to adapt when fatigue or other health issues pose challenges
  • Intimate relationship dynamics
  • Finding love or intimacy with a chronic disease

About the expert:

Jillian Bissar, MSSW, LCSW-S has 19 years’ experience as a social worker and sexual health advocate. Ms. Bissar is a member of the Sexual Health Alliance, Association of Oncology Social Workers and the National Association of Social Workers. She is trained in comprehensive, lifespan, inclusive sexuality and health relationship curriculum; Our Whole Lives (OWL).

She has worked in a variety of settings to provide sexual health education, counseling and relationship support to clients. She has worked in chronic illness, HIV, oncology and with persons living with developmental disabilities helping clients to navigate healthy fulfilling sexual lives.

She is passionate about educating and advocating for fulfilling lives through healthy relationships of all kinds, as well as access and inclusivity in sexual health. Her approach is sex positive, evidence based in science and grounded in sound relationship therapy techniques.
